Shuin and Saia Test Comic by sXeven Shuin and Saia Test Comic by sXeven
WARNING! THE DIALOGUE IS INCREDIBLY CHEESY N LAME! I really suck at dialogues and could not come up with any beter ones T__T so bear with me here....

okayh don't get too excited, this is just a test D: This has actually been sitting in the shelves for quite some time now and has been haunting me to finish it. So i did and here you go xD

There are facial retardations here and there and the painting is not really up to par with my usual stuff but i'm trying to strike a balance between my usual style of painting and a more simplified version for comics D: I have not found it yet sadly, but i am still trying.

I'm practicing speedpainting and environmental paintings now for those who are wondering what i've been up to xD It's just so difficult to come home and work on photoshop when you've been staring at photoshop at work for the whole day already D: So yeah progress has been slow but hopefully with this manga off my shoulders and no more guilt, i can speed things up abit xD

haha im working on it, though just short scenes for now. I have rough sketches of an action scene already but i'm still not too satisfied with it to go into details yet. But rest assured when i'm satisfied with it, i'll begin work on it >; D

Sorry I indented the paragraphs when I wrote it to make it more pleasurable to read but apparently d/a doesn't think that spaces are an important formatting tool. So very annoying especially since it's un-editable.

I was enjoying the dialogue fine until the salmon. I could imagine the dialogue up until then being the scripted scene in movies of this nature, which I guess means what I'm saying is that it seems authentic (not cheesy). Past that, I just have little-to-no sense of humour, and if I do find something funny it's in a dark fashion, so maybe it's fine in most people's eyes.
The digital imagery itself however is 10/10 through and through. No doubt about that. You didn't miss an opportunity to make every part of this look calm and (soothing?) with all the warm tones of each colour used. I know if I were in a place like what you've produced here I'd be feeling very content.
One other thing I've noted just as I was about to click "add comment" is that there are no signs of life, no idle vehicles to suggest travel, no fluttering insects -All we see in these scenes is the focus on the two characters involved in the conversation (positive). This tricks the viewer into forgetting that while they're talking about working for shitty employer(s), civilisation is nowhere to be seen, which maybe makes me think that the travelling away from their past-life has already happened, at least part-way. Though that's just something I feel from looking at it only for five or so minutes.
Not that this makes it uninteresting, I'd look at it much longer if I had a little more time on my hands, I like your art, -I'm more of a hands-on person, you may well be to I wouldn't know, but the point is when I attempt to paint watercolour scenery, my trees and such often look a lot like what you've done here, so I can really relate to it even though I know that's not how this was made. I think that's nice.

ahaha thanks man xD i dont think the salmon was meant to be funny? I put that in there to show the childlike personality of the guy xD I wanted them to have a lighthearted conversation after the whole lovey dovey thing but cud'nt figure out what, it just so happened that i felt like eating salmon at that moment >.< so i just slapped it in there xD
ooh so glad you caught that, was'nt really sure if i could like show tht they have already left their past lives behind them and looking forward to a better future properly without giving at the very least some backstory D: But i'm glad that got through even just a little xD
hmm am still looking for a way to paint fast n still look nice, currently doing speedpainting to help speed things up but i still have to get rid of my obsession with details D: It's really annoying D:

Yeah I know what it's like. My art teachers always used to speed me up, try to have me pay less attention to detail. My philosophy was, how are master works meant to be created in a world where people are even rushing art? It shouldn't be done. Skilful and efficient is fair enough, but sacrificing detail for speed is something I cannot do.
What you've done here looks fine though. Well, it seems to be on par with anything else I've seen you put on here, so I guess whatever time you took you managed not to have to reduce the quality too much or at all.

Wow. I cannot imagine the insane amount of work that went into this! Congratulations on finishing it ^_^
Considering how challenging faces are, a lot of them are quite good. the style's not bad; the lines are a little on the rough side, but the coloring works well-- all he figures are nicely done, too, but then you're always awesome with those xD Your backgrounds are lovely without being overly complicated, too :)
Shuin's rather less stern than I expected-- less reserved. Saia's just about exactly as I imagined he'd be in this phase of the story (their time in the village, I think-- somewhere near the beginning?) xD
Is work going well?

hahaa it's not that much work really, it's just insanely boring xD haha at about this stage, we're close to the end of the village part already, Shuin's already soften up alot (well to saia at least) xD They got the gold frm the bandits and after this they'll open the teahouse, and i think life will go well for them for awhile, maybe a month or two i dunno xD But after that it's all downhill xD

I feel like doing the whole scene with Shuin and Yomi next but since that'll be in the city, its gonna be a bitch to draw D: the background n everything D: Then i thought abt it a little more, i'd be giving away major spoilers if i did that D:

Oh! THAT'S where the money came from. Sweet, I hadn't even thought of the bandits! And yeah... talk about calm before the storm xD

Oh ouch. City backgrounds will definitely be a pain! And yeah, you'd totally give away a lot of the background. Which scene did you have in mind-- the bit where Yomi's insane?

haha yeah drawing those would be a real challenge, i'll try it once i'm able to xD
I was thinking about the scene where Yomi talks Shuin into meeting her somewhere where Yomi tries to talk Shuin into joining her, but Shuin was'nt really sure because at this point Yomi is already insane. So basically they fought and Yomi was able to capture Shuin and bring her to her place where she gives Shuin all the experimental documents n stuff D: This wud be a huge challenge tho, i need to balance action and dialogue if i were to take on this D:

aaah XD stop it! dialogues always sound silly and stupid when you re-read your own comics and creations!
the dialogues are good! they bring the emotion they are supposed to be bringing, into the comic and thats what counts, ... ^^ at least in my opinion ;)

looking forward to following parts!

You did a good job with the dialogue though. The tone of it is portrayed as a brighter future from hard work. Even though a scene like this has been done numerous times, your rendition of it is quite nice!
